Stopover at Port du Houillon in Languimberg
Take a break between land and waterThe "Port du Houillon" is the last stop on the Saar Canal before reaching the junction of the two canals and continuing on the Marne to Rhine Canal. Moor in this charming little marina in the middle of nature. Several services are available in the marina : sanitary facilities, water, electricity, grocery, etc… You can make the most of it to buy supplies.
Take your bicycles and get a breath of fresh air by cycling along the cycle path starting in Languimberg, which follows the banks of the Saar Canal. From Diane-Capelle starts the photo path “La biodiversité au fil de l’Oh”, an open-air exhibition of 15 photographs which presents the incredible biodiversity of the area, a biological mosaic between land and water.
There are QR codes on each photo panel, once scanned they will give you more information on the natural wealth of the area, between fauna and flora. The photo path runs for 17 kilometres to the Mittersheim marina, you can turn back at any time !
Just a few minutes from the port by bike, you can also discover the unusual Doll Museum of Diane-Capelle, which houses over 700 dolls dating from 1925 to the present day! Then head to the adjoining Bistrot de Cap for a refreshing drink !
At the end of the day, head back to your boat to enjoy the sunset and the soothing calm of the Saar Canal.
Stopover at the river port of Mittersheim
Enjoy a break at the water’s edge!On the doorstep of Alsace, make a stopover at the Mittersheim marina. Ideally located and well equipped, it has sanitary facilities, full service terminals for water and electricity supplies, and even a bicycle repair station! The Café du Port allows you to quench your thirst right next to your boat.
From the marina you can reach the Lac Vert leisure centre. Many water activities are available on the Mittersheim pond for an invigorating break : canoeing, paddling, pedal boats, etc. A snack bar and a restaurant are also available for a gourmet break. The Lac Vert leisure centre is a friendly and lively place, and you may even enjoy some musical entertainment by the pond !
If your senses take you to the centre of the village of Mittersheim, take the opportunity to stroll through its most striking monuments: the wash-house and its calvary, the forge, the well, the church, a house with a Saracen fireplace, some half-timbered houses and also the Museum of Popular Art, where you can visit a wash-house and an exhibition of farming tools from days gone by. You'll also discover the town's small water-related heritage: locks 12 and 13, where you'll find a large work by artist Sylvie de Meurville entitled "Vous êtes ici" ("You are here"). There's also a weir dam and a military valve, a remnant of the Maginot aquatic line ....
You can also explore the "Biodiversity along the water" photo trail, by bike or on foot. Departing from the port of Mittersheim, this open-air photographic exhibition will enable you to learn more about the natural wealth of the region !

Stopover at the Niderviller marina
Discover the history of the Lorraine region !We advise you to make a stopover at the Marina Kuhnle Tours in Niderviller. The river port offers you all the facilities to enjoy a comfortable and safe stopover (sanitary facilities, washing machine, dryer, water, electricity…). Moor your boat for the night and set off to discover Niderviller. Here you will experience the history of the Sarrebourg area between crystal and earthenware.
From the marina, walk or cycle around the village and discover two ceramic kilns known as ‘fours bouteille’ at the former Niderviller earthenware factory. One of the oldest industries in Lorraine since 1735, the only one to have produced porcelain. Continue your walk via the Cantera stables, an equestrian centre and show stable, where the staff will be delighted to pass on their experience and show you their world.
Are you feeling a bit peckish ? Head to the Niderviller goat farm to taste an ice cream produced on the farm. Take the opportunity to buy some cheese for your next meals aboard your boat.
End the day with a meal at the Auberge du Tannenheim, located just a short walk away from the marina. Blandine proposes traditional cuisine in a warm and friendly atmosphere. Daily menu, “à la carte'' menu, pizzas and wood-fired tartes flambées on weekends. At the end of the evening, you can go back to your boat to spend the night and start sailing again the next morning.
