Experience a moment out of timeSailing along the Saar Canal with your boat, make a stop at Albeschaux, located halfway between the large Mittersheim pond and the Stock pond. Spend a day out of time with friends or family, leave your boat and discover the Sarrebourg region!
Take your bikes and ride to the Sainte-Croix Animal Park in Rhodes, located less than 20 minutes from the Albeschaux stopover. On the way, a few metres from your boat, you can admire the Sainte-Anne chapel adjoining the Albeschaux farm dating from the 12th century. The chapel was restored in 2014 thanks to an association dedicated to safeguarding Fribourg’s village heritage.
Situated in a 120-hectare green setting, the Sainte-Croix Animal Park in Rhodes is a place to discover European fauna and worldwide biodiversity. The park has become over the past 40 years a reference in France and in Europe for displaying European fauna and endangered species.
More than 1,500 animals representing 100 species roam freely in five areas. Travel through North America to the New World, walk along the path devoted to worldwide biodiversity with Neo’s Journey. Follow the realm of European animals and encounter the continent’s four largest carnivores. Immerse yourself in the history of wolves and encounter rare endangered species. End up at Gérald’s Farm where you will enjoy the company of farm animals.
You can also take part in nature experiences such as animal feeding or a wildlife expedition in a safari train. As the name suggests, you can experience a mini-safari directly in the park - extra cost with the purchase of a ticket) where you will discover species roaming freely such as bison and Przewalski’s horses that can only be seen through this experience.
There's also "Le Monde de Néo" (Neo's World), one of the park's big new attractions, a 6,000m2 area where young and old alike can learn all about living things, all while having fun ! In this new area you'll find Neo, a young explorer from Moselle, whose mission is to explain to children what's at stake when it comes to biodiversity !
To visit the park, we advise you to bring a good pair of shoes, a hat in case of bright sunshine, and enough to take nice pictures. It takes several hours to visit the park, so we suggest you arrive in the morning. Restaurants and picnic areas are available for lunch breaks during your visit.
Make the most of the last few hours of the day to stop off in the centre of the village of Rhodes. Discover this small village nestled on the banks of the Stock pond and enjoy dinner at the European Nautic restaurant, which will delight you with its traditional cuisine. Head back to your boat to watch the sunset on the canal, a great way to end the day!
